Aravind Samy and his wife Gayathri Ramamurthy on Wednesday approached the Principal Family Court at the Madras High Court campus seeking divorce on mutual consent.
When their petition came up before the Principal Judge S Meenakshisundaram, it was informed that the actor would make a one-time payment of Rs 75 lakhs to his wife, in addition to a monthly payment of Rs one lakh towards maintenance from the date of dissolution of their marriage.The couple submitted in their application that due to incompatibility of temperament, they had not been able to lead a happy married life and were discontent with each other.
The Judge, after recording evidence on their plea, adjourned the matter to December 10 for orders.
Aravind Samy and Gayathri were married in 1994 and they have two children. The couple has been living separately since December 2003. Last May, both moved the family court in Chennai seeking divorce.
