Prabhu Deva’s 2009 Tamil film Villu, starring Vijay and Nayantara in the lead, is being dubbed in Telugu as Yama Kantri by G. Usharani of GDR Media.
Devi Sri Prasad has scored the music and the audio launch of the Telugu version will be held on January 31. The film will hit screens by the second week of February.
Inspired by Bobby Deol’s Soldier, Yama Kantri revolves around an affectionate son who seeks revenge on the men who were responsible for the death of his father.
Major Saravanan (Vijay), an honest army officer, was on the verge of capturing three army officials involved in trading of weapons and ammunitions to terrorists and drug lords, but was brutally murdered by them.
The men framed him as a terrorist and stripped off the medals and commendations from his dead body just before his last rites.
Saravanan’s dead body was left to rot in the sun since the villagers refused to cremate him in their neighbourhood.
He is survived by his wife (Ranjitha) and his only son Pughal (Vijay) who then plans and takes revenge on the murderers and clears the terrorist image from the name of his patriotic father.
